Design Compliance Manager – New Build Residential – Woodford Green

My client, a private residential housing development arm of a major construction group of companies operating within London and the South-east is seeking to appoint a Design Compliance Manager

The Role:

Reporting to the Technical Production Manager in the Design & Build Department, the role is to:

  • Manage the design process for traditional and design and build contracts.

  • Act as the primary contact for the design teams, client and production teams.

  • Advise on cost effectiveness of alternative methods of construction.

  • Co-ordinate the design information supplied to our construction division.

  • Manage compliance checks against specification and client requirements.

  • Manage design output to agreed programmes. Liaise with Local Authorities, Building Control and Planning Departments.


  • Substantial professional background in either architectural or structural engineering (with stable employment with the same company/group for three or more years).

  • Substantial experience of new build residential projects.

  • A good working knowledge of AutoCAD 2000.

  • A good working knowledge of NHBC and building regulations.

  • A good appreciation of building services.

  • Minimum qualification as an architectural or structural technician.

  • A good understanding of CSH, BREEAM.

  • Good team leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be a team player to be part of a very dynamic project based construction company.

  • No freelancers/job hoppers will be considered.

  • Professional qualifications and/or institute membership desirable.

  • Must reside within a reasonable travelling distance from head office (Woodford Green).

  • Ability to provide good references.

  • Clean, smart appearance.

Development Manager - £75-85k pa DOE + benefits - Woodford, Essex

My client, a private residential housing development arm of a major construction group of companies operating within London and the South-east is seeking to appoint a Development Manager.

Reporting directly to the Development Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading new projects through the  development cycle through to market sale. This will include liaising with development partners, agents, Local Authorities, Registered Providers and other statutory bodies in order to secure new opportunities and see that they are delivered to programme, cost and quality targets.

Size, project complexity and scheme type will vary but the emphasis will be in the residential and mixed-use sectors

Key functions include ensuring the Company’s development brief and profit expectations are met: managing and ensuring communication and co-ordination between Consultants and Contractors; the production and review of design information and specifications; undertaking Risk Assessments (financial and project specific), co-ordinating, reviewing and disseminating all information in regard to cost, quality, time and (any other relevant issues) to ensure overall Project delivery and viability are maintained.

Plan, prepare and produce the Design or Delivery brief for each development assigned to you.

You should be self-motivated, confident and able to demonstrate the ability and proven track record in land requisition and development, be commercially astute and able to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience of financial modelling, risk analysis and programme management is a must together with highly developed presentation and communication skills.

You should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Client residential housing and/or mixed use development environment. You must be able to demonstrate experience of all stages of the development process including the management of planning, procurement and delivery, and have worked on residential schemes varying from 20 units to 500+ units.

Awareness of the RSL and Public Sector roles in development (commercial development experience is an asset but not a requirement).
