What's the worst thing that can happen?

Applying for a job can be a daunting process. Equally, it can prove to be the best decision you ever made. What is absolutely clear though, is that it is one of the most important things in life that you will ever do. Therefore it shouldn't be undertaken lightly.

On the other hand, you know the saying....."nothing ventured, nothing gained", so what are you waiting for? Ask yourself, what's the worst thing that could happen?

Well, in a worst case scenario, your present boss could find out and consequently your present job situation may be severely jeopardised. Alternatively, you may be successful in getting the job you're after only to discover that you hate it.

But providing you've researched properly and taken care to be discreet, neither of these scenarios should apply.

In which case, the worst thing that can happen is that you don't get the job!

What if I'm not sure what sort of job I want?

If you're not entirely sure what you want to do, start by listening to your heart, rather than your head. Take note of that old 'gut feeling'. What does it tell you?

Often, people have a pretty clear idea of what they definitely don't want to do - that's a fairly good way to approach it.

Look around you, who do you see that are very happy with what they do for a living? You must be realistic though, be honest, you are not going to land a job as an astronaut without some serious study and practical training.
